Women’s Health Osteopathy is a specialist and integrated approach, restoring balance to both the physiological and psychological aspects of a woman's wellbeing.

It incorporates treatment of all the body systems including the nervous system, digestive system and hormonal system. Treatment aims to promote health whether from pre-puberty through to post-menopause. Some of my clients may already be under the care of a medical specialist. Others might be looking for a more holistic approach to manage symptoms.

Women’s Health Osteopathy can be a gentle and effective management of symptoms such as pelvic pain (which could arise from a number of conditions including fibroids or endometriosis), prolapse or hormonal issues such as thyroid dysfunction or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Treatment can work alongside conventional approaches.

Common symptoms:

  • abdominal or pelvic pain
  • hormonal issues
  • thyroid or adrenal dysfunction
  • endometriosis
  • fibroids

What to expect:

When I treat a client I take a full case history and then do a physical examination.  If needed, you will be referred for investigations. Symptoms such as abnormal bleeding will always be taken seriously. Hands on treatment often works well alongside other approaches such as nutritional support.

Aftercare:

Aftercare includes lifestyle management to help reduce stress, increase energy, enhance physical movement and mood. The cyclical nature of women is used as a theme to encourage an ebb and flow of activity and rest in order to create balance. In the busy world we live in, most people have never learnt how to tune in to their own rhythm, which can shift through the day, month and season.

When I go to Avni I know I’m not going to be rushed in and out. I feel like my whole body is being treated. Avni has a beautiful touch, gentle but precise manipulation (if you want it). I go when there’s something wrong, but I also go when I feel good just for maintenance.
