See this content in the original post

Dominique Antiglio is a globally sought-after Sophrologist and best-selling author. She specializes in stress and sleep management, anxiety, self-development, birth preparation, and preparing for other major life events. Her background in Osteopathy and her passion for the mind body connection deepens her understanding of Sophrology and how to best use it to support people through challenging times.

Born in Switzerland, Dominique was introduced to Sophrology at 15 years old to overcome health issues, learning early on the ways to positively connect with herself and embrace a new way of living.

Dominique is a regular workshop host and speaker, teaching people about the power of Sophrology to transform their lives. Her expertise is also regularly featured in the media.

She gained her Masters in Caycedian Sophrology (2006) notably training with Professor Caycedo, the founder of the method in Spain. She is also a graduate of the renowned European School of Osteopathy in Kent, UK, and holds a Holistic Voice Diploma (UK). Dominique is fluent in French and English.

In this episode:

  • Sophrology is the ‘science of consciousness’

  • It was created by a neuropsychiatrist in the 1960s, addressing how the body, mind and soul work together harmoniously. Eastern knowledge of meditation and yoga are blended with Western science such as psychiatry and relaxation to provide a simple tool for daily life to bring about calm and happiness

  • Professor Caycedo, the founder of Sophrology, described consciousness as an ‘energy that connects every aspect of human beings’. When the energy flows well through the body and mind, we have a better chance to be healthy and thrive and rely on our inner capacities such as confidence and joy

  • Sophrology is well-known in Switzerland, France and Belgium

  • Dominique encountered Sophrology aged 15 in Switzerland. She was suffering from recurrent episodes and fainting and her GP recommended it as a tool to help her to feel better. Five sessions made a big difference to her wellbeing and she connected to the stress she had been experiencing. She felt empowered to live life with more awareness

  • She studied osteopathy as a holistic way to address the body and mind, and a profession with connection with people. Sophrology and osteopathy work well together, until she felt ready to sell her osteopathic practice and focus on teaching Sophrology

  • Benefits include grounding in the present moment, increased self-confidence, a clearer mind, knowing your values, changing the relationship with the future to embracing life, and having resilience

  • Learning to get into a relaxed state and using breathing and movement to let go

  • Values: the values of the individual (e.g. love, nature),  the values of the group (e.g. your company, family, country), the values of humanity. You can still exist amongst other things that don’t align with your values, but use your individual values to effect change

  • Body awareness is a simple way to start engaging with your potential e.g listening to breath, feeling tension in the body

  • Using Sophrology for stress management and supporting change

  • Developing resilience to be in situations that are not optimal for yourself

  • Listening to the breath. Are you breathing in your chest? In your abdomen? Place a hand on your body and breathe into that area. Looking for positive sensations.
